Copy the kick drum midi to the Kontakt Track, or play in the bass part on the guitar that's already on my lap and use Ableton's "Convert melody to MIDI Track" feature.ģ. (and some other amp sim, eq, ually EZMix Metal Bass Amps pack)Ģ. Sometimes, I'll finish an arrangement, and move a kick drum, ghost note, etc.and moving bass midi notes around is so much faster than retracking.īefore EZbass. For me, it makes it easier to change things up if I want. I agree with Badargh that programming is preferable in a lot of cases.

Pretty funny because my main live gig is as a bassist. I almost always program bass when I'm recording. Got to see it in very early alpha stage at a private event in Jan 2019. I haven't even fooled with the MIDI generating capabilities of this thing yet but it could be very useful at least as a shortcut for when the bass follows the guitars.įWIW, I got an advance copy and have been using it for a while. In my experience basses have more tuning and intonation issues than guitars which are bad enough. On one hand yes, it's easier to just play a bass than to program or play the lines on a keyboard (depending on the part of course) but it's harder to RECORD a really consistent, in tune bass part. The presets seem pretty useful but of course you can generate clean DI's with this and run them into whatever plugin you want for processing or you could even reamp to a real amp if you wanted to.Īs far as everyone saying just play the bass - I have a bass. A modern sounding active bass and a more vintage sounding bass, both with finger and pick playing styles. You get a lot for not too much cash on this initial release too. EZBass sounds totally realistic, I'm very impressed. I have used a few bass virtual instruments and there are some that sound really good tonally but usually they do sound kinda fake as far as dynamics, attack, etc.
